I have a 94 Rexhall Airex with 460 fuel injected and I get about 8 mpg or 7 mpg when I tow my minivan with a dolly trailer, about 4000lb towing.
Does anyone know if this engine can be converted to LPG? and where I can find info about it.
Thanks
What year, coach type and size?
Five is low, unless it has a MotorCraft/Holley carburetor and the power valve is blown out by backfiring.
We have the MC/H on an '83 C Coach and get 7-8 running about 60 MPH. Go faster and you'll get less. We have the old fashioned York A/C compressor, and it robs us of about 1MPG.
Let us know what you have.
God Bless, jd
My two cents: I have an '86 that is 11,300 lbs. that has a carbureted 460. It gets about 7 to 8 mpg. pulling a boat that must weigh 3000 lbs including trailer, and that's at 55 mph maximum.
I am planning to buy a Gulfstream Endura 6316 32ft with 8.1 chevy and a allison auto transmittion. what kind of gas mileage can i exspect ?and are they a reliable class c motorhome
I have a 1995 30' Class C w/460. I get around 8mpg. It does best using 87 octane, both performance and fuel economy. We got about 6.8 mpg going across Minnesota into a headwind and only running about 55 mph. I have gotten over 9 mpg running at 55 mph on flat land with no wind. I normally drive between 65 and 72 mph on fairly hilly terrain and average right at 8 mpg.
I've got a 1972 20' Winabago w/318 2bl and I'm getn about 7.5 with my 5500 watt gen running not bad for an old Brave, but I also added a little extra weight with a new 1 1/4 in thick ply wood roof :) not to mention some tile work and new cabinets made with 3/4 plywood and solid oak.
I have a 1990 c class gm 454 23'.It gets 8 mpg towing a heavy trailer and the same not towing anything.Do you think I could change the rear end gears or put a larger set of tires on the rear would that help?I don't plan on towing a heavy trailer any more and I don't mind having to "pedal" it up the large hills. Thanks
I have a '97 Dolphin, 36' with the Ford V8, 460, and I get around 6 mpg. My previous coach was a '99 Tropi-Cal, 36' with the Ford V10 and a Banks system, and it consistently got 8 mpg. From the many people I've talked to, it seems that these mpg figures are pretty much average for these engines.
Phoenix 24 ft rv with ford v-10 motor

My 460 is brutal on mileage...and I had a massive propane backfire going downhill at 60mph in verginia northcarolina mountains..could poor miliage be due to the back fire and if so how much to repair...and i do have the motorcraft 750 holly double pumper carb...I plan on removing propane system.what is a good replacement carb for this engine.please respond any one
I am having the exact same problem with my 1989 F-350 w/ a fuel injected 460. I am getting about 6 MPG and that is with a brand new cat back system, K&N filter and complete tune up. My rig is a F-350 dually with a 12 foot camper shell on top. I still think that there must be a mechanical reason why the mileage is so low. Any suggestions??
I own a 2002 Hurricane Moto Home. I do not like the chassie Cheeply made) but I do have 90,000 miles with no problem on the Ford V10 engine, I average between 7.6 and 8.2 MPG with tow car. Change oil & filter every 5000 miles.
