Satellite cable outlet Paul Knight 7-3-09
I hooked up a sat. dish outside of my Terry Lite travel trailer, and plugged the coax cable to the outlet on the side of the trailer. I'm not getting any satellite signal to the tv inside the trailer. Can this outlet outside the trailer be used for both park cable tv and satellite tv? Not sure why i'm not getting a signal. When i hooked the sat. dish directly to the tv it works, but not through the outlet. Can someone offer any suggestions?

Thank you
Paul

Did you turn off the antenna booster after connecting the satellite?

I just bought a used 31 Prowler. I have an external cable hook-up for cable or satelite going into the RV. I hooked up the cable and had a very weak picture. I have two outlets in the RV and neither one had a good signal. I hook up directly to the TV and get a good picture. I talked with a few cable men and there was one that hooked up my cable and saw the picture and they all say it looked like it was the splitter. With all of the wiring between the floor and the bottom of the trailer I will need special equipment to find the exact location of the splitter and if I do find it I will have to drill a hole through the bottom of the trailer UP into the void under the floor to change it. I will then need to use the plug I cut out with the drill and some 5200(marine below waterline sealant) to seal the hole back up using the plug that came out as filler. Or I could just run new CATV wire stapled along the bottom and up through the slide to the TV locations.

Wow,that sounds like a lot of bs to go thru just to change the splitter. I think i'll run the cable thru the storage compartment into the rv and tape it along the floor, walls and ceiling. So the cable outlet will work for both cable and satellite tv,huh? They are two different type coaxial cables. I have a power switch in the main living area on the cable outlet....would that be a signal amplification power switch? I'll try to find the splitter without cutting holes in the rv....i'm thinking the splitter might be fairly close to the switch. What do you think?

Btw, thanks for the quick response.

Paul

Yes, i turned off all power before connecting the cables, then turned everything back on.
