I have a propane onan generator (3.6KYL) with 9 hours on it. I have been absent in starting it like I should every month. I just replaced the starter solenoid as I had no crank. cleaned connections, battery show good have crank now, but feels like I am not getting any LP fuel. I have full tank of propane and dial is on. Getting fault code 15, but who knows when that is from. This on on top of a horse trailer with about 30 foot run of pipe to the tanks. Anyone have any clues. Is there some sort of reset for the propane to flow to generator. What is the thing that looks like a fuel filter inline with the LP gas line just inside the cover? I took this off, turned off the LP and cranked the generator and smelled LP (yes I had the fire extinguisher with me) so I assume I have fuel to that point. Looks like it goes from there to a regulator, then from the regulator to the carborator. There is a plug on the regulator looking thing, should I take this out and try cranking engine?? (with the gas off or on?). It has to be something simple, doesn't it??
Thank you for any help!
Mitch
I have a propane Onan on my HR RV and there is a valve that I have to tap while cranking. Appears it gets gummed up and the fuel cannot flow thru. Others I have talked with say this is common with LP. I read that you can have a dealer inject alcohol into the line to clear but have not done this. I just tap it with a golf club practice club and it works every time.
