I am having a problem with low pressure from the shower in a used trailer I just bought, even hooked up to public water (with the recommended pressure reducer hooked up to the faucet). The water pressure in the sinks and toilet is fine. I took the shower hose off the faucet and found that a disk with a small hole offset to one side was restricting the flow. I can remove the disk to open the flow but I believe this is the vacuum breaker. Will the shower function without this in place? It semms that it would but it must be there for a reason. Can someone shed some light on this?
Hi Steve, The vacuum breaker is there to supposedly prevent backflow of possibly contaminated water into your freshwater system. Guess maybe if the water sits in the shower head hose awhile....?? It won't hurt anything to remove it if you're not worried about the possible consequences....;0) I've removed them and I'm still around... Hope this helps!
