MY 4WD WILL NOT ENGAGE ON MY 99 RANGER, I HAVE CHANGED OUT THE TRANSFER CASE MOTOR AND SWITCH I CHECKED THE FUSES. MY 4WD HI AND LOW INDICATING LIGHTS ON THE DASH BLINK ON AND OFF NOW AND THEN. I WOULD LIKE TO GET A FREE SCHEMATIC OF THE WIRING WITHOUT BUYING A $30.00 MANUAL. CAN ANYONE HELP.
On the 4wd switch there are 4 wires blk,gry/red,white/blu, blk wires are any of them suppose to be hot all the time it is like i am not getting power to the switch.
Keep in mind that there is a control module in the cab as well that could be malfunctioning. It has a self test feature and it's usually behind the plastic trim behind the driver's side seat. It has a self test button, so it's pretty easy to check.
My experiance with the GEM was when it came out and controlled the interior lighting and replaced a bunch of relays. I had a 1996 Ranger and the 4WD had a seperate module. The GEM can be tested using a code scanner and uses "B" codes instead of "P" codes.
If the GEM tests good, the only other thing left is a wiring problem.
