My 99 Protege with about 125,000 miles has started to run extremely roughly. It feels like it is going to stall at high speeds on the freeway and has stalled when coming to a stop. I have had the idle intake valve and O2 sensor replaced to no avail. Any ideas?
When was your last tune up? Have you scanned for codes? What made you decide to replace the IAC and O2 sensor?
This could be a tune up issue or it could be a mechanical issue or it could be the result of a wiring problem (anything installed recently; Radio? GPS?). Most of the name brand auto parts stores (Checker, Autozone, pep boys, etc.) offer code scanning for free. I'd start there and see what condition your air filter is in and if it's been a year or more since you've had a tune up, change the plugs, air filter and fuel filter. Since the car is almost 10 years old, if you haven't changed the sparkplug wires, now is the time to do so.
