Is anyone aware of fedex eliminating single route contractors? I saw this posting:
FedEx is eliminating single route owners in persuit of multi route owners that do not drive, but manage their business. Their ideal model is 1 owner = 5 to 6 routes. Check out New Hampshire drivers info just put out. If the model works in NH, it will be spred to all states. Current NH 1- route owners are being offered $30,000. to leave before their route is eliminated on May 30, 2009.
I am looking into buying a route in New York but if this is the case the sellers of single routes are going to hurt the single route buyers.
Fed ex is on the hook for many drivers sueing them as they should have been considered employees. This is happening in several states. This does not apply to anyone that had two or more routes. So Fed Ex to continue their profitable and sucsesfull busness model is going to be ensuring single rout operators are eliminated in areas where this labour law is in power. I don't doubt that all states will go this way over the next few years but I think they are only pushing in the states with a leagle exposure. Check the lawsuits out on the web. Good Luck
