Detroit runs the blower slower in turbo engines, this means difrent gearing in the back. I have heard people not making this change and not hurting anything but Detroit will probably tell you it is a recipe for disaster. Turbo engines also have a larger bypass on the blower so the blower runs under less stress and doesn't eat itself. The turbo is relitivly large and you will need to ensure you get a set up that will phisicaly fit. The turbo will put more heat into both the engine and the engine compartment so the cooling system will be under more stress. The turbo will enable you to tune your engine more agresivly and use bigger injectors, this means more stress on the cooling system. And finally the trans and clutch (if manual) Allison will probably tell you that the trans needs to be modified or the converter changed to handle the increase in torque. The clutch will probably take a moderate increase but how much? So the real question is what are you hopeing to gain and how much risk are you willing to take? I have refit 6v92 and 8v92 into the the MCI 9 body with good luck but allways used the trans from the donor vehical. I think this is much safer from a over stress standpoint. Good Luck
