I turned the dist. cap a little and then someone told me you should not turn them if the truck had computer.
its a 1989 gmc 1500 350. how should i set the timing ?
89 throttle body? If so, there's a wire on the firewall,under the wiper motor. Should be (I think) brown, maybe with a black stripe. It has an inline plug. unplug it and set your timing with a timing light. When done replug it. It's a spark advance sensor. Same as the vac. line on the older dist. That's all you have to do.
I have an 1989 k1500 silverado 4x4 automatic pickup. I need to set the timing,what is the recommended btc? Is it 0,4,or 8 degrees? This is a 350 engine with 146,000 miles. I realize it's getting tired but can you help?
