1984 pace arrow motorhome fuel problems Bret P. Hunter 10-21-07
My father in law has a 1984 pace arrow motorhome that has stopped pumping fuel. We replaced the fuel pump for the engine. We have replaced the inline filter on the carb, we have cleaned and replaced the mid line filter right along the frame by the steps going into the motorhome and still no gas. It wont pump a drop. We were told that there is an additional pump located right above the gas tank which by my measure does not look like it will be fun to get to. Any advice you can give or where we might get the resources to help us????

I hope you have a p-30 chevy. Your coach should have a small booster pump next to the frame. your problem may be like mine the hoses were dryrotted. My problem was each time that I would run my coach I would smell strong oder of gas. All motorhome 454 engines have a by pass line that runs back to the tank to prevent vapor lock and to keep the fuel cool.

I have a chevy service book for a 85 chassis and it details the holly fuel pump just outside the tank also there is a fuel pressure regulator just after the pump the engine pump can't deliver enough fuel on grades to keep up, mine has the pump in the tank know anyone with a tank? mines leaking...

A 84 model may be on a 83 chassis. Most of the early 80s chevy p30 chassis did not have a pump in the tank. Also had lots of fuel vapor lock problems. By 1986 models chevy was putting a pump in side the tank. Sounds like you may have a pin hole in the line near the top of the tank. The fuel pump maybe sucking air through the pin hole. Many of the early models were modified to use a add on electric pump by owners with fuel problems. Also how long is the rig? Some of the builders here in Calif.were only using the electric pumps on rigs over about 25 feet. Use a floor jack to support the tank if you wind up dropping it. Not to bad of job but just take it easy.Good Luck Mike

Brakes are locked on. they are disc is there a way to release them so I can move it.Also do you know where I can get a copy of 83 light truck shop manual(ST 330-83).I hane a leak in return gas line to tank, is probably the rubber hole connection,Will I have to drop the tank to change hose and clamps.

Great My Dad gave me an 84 pace arrow 34ft. with fuel problems we have replaced a pump & lines man this thing is not fun to work on and yep still having leaking and its not starting. Now we'll check for the pump in the tank thanks for the info.
I have a 1986 Holiday Rambler and Im not getting any fuel to carb. Ive replaced the in line filter and still nothing. If I put gas directly into the carb it will run great for a few seconds. Jamie Crick 5-4-09
I would be greatful for any advise on what else to try. There are so many different relays and stuff on this thing I don't even know where to look.

I changed the fuel filter and gave it a tune up now it wont start but the fuel pump comes on why wont it start if i dump gas into the carb it will run long enough to burn that gas but thats it it ran before that
