You need to remove it thru the front. You will need to remove the hood and grill assuming class a motorhome. you will need to pull the radiator and work your way back. Once you are there, it is pretty straight forward. Using a cherry picker type hoist, and a steel plate bolted to the intake, you can pull the motor out, once you disconnect everything. suggst you also go thru the tranny while you are there as you will not want to go back. also have the radiator checked out. becareful on the powersteering pump if you replace it, make sure it does not leak at the housing BEFORE you reinstall it. It takes about 4 hours to get to the front of the engine. whole operation takes 24 hours. take digital pictures at each step. go ahead peel the onion.

Back about 1982, I removed a Chevy 454 engine from the top, because we didn't have an engine hoist that would bend in the middle to reach it. We removed the driver's seat and the steering wheel, then removed the engine fan and both exhaust manifolds and lifted the engine up and out through the driver's door.
Unfortunately, if you don't have a driver's door, that won't work, but it did for us at the time.
