Anyone know where to get an aftermarket TBI for a 1994 454? This is the only thing in the fuel system that hasn't been replaced on this engine. Engine has no power and I have to "fish around" with the throttle to get it to pull right, and sometimes I can't at all. Dealer says the injectors could be worn, it has 71K on it. They want 1200 bucks for a compete TBI unit.
Got a rebuilt upper half on ebay for 260.00 with a core exchange. We'll see if that helps this lack of power problem. Engine sounds good otherwise...no misses or anything, just down on power, and if I fish around with the throttle, I can sometimes get it to pull good.
Hi Dave i have been reading you situation with 454 TBI, i am wondering how fuel usage is when working good as i have just purchased a monaco m/home in sacramento ca and it has a 454 with rochester carby and i would like to fit TBI system to try & get better fuel consumption, we are coming over from australia in sept to travel around and then ship it home, Regards Gary Cubbage
Hi i have a 1994 chevy 3500 with a 454 TBI in it and when in neutral if i punch it the motor will rev to 2500 rpm then the fuel cuts off intermintently but if i hit the throtle slowly it will hit the red line ne help would be great thanx alot by the way new dis plugs wires and fuel pump and filterthanx alot
Gary, did you find out any info about fuel economy with fuel injection vs. carb? I am considering a TBI swap for my 1981 26' Winnebago Brave. 5-6 MPG just plane sucks.
