My 1984 Eagle has a 6V92. Cannot make it up the Rockies without stopping to cool the engine (temps over 200) and the trans temp will increase over 250 at speeds over 70-75. Do I need a new powertrain? What will this cost. What type is favored?

more than likely your radiator is stopped up--or water pump just not circulating coolant---is the fan-to- radiator missing? maybe not allowing air to pass through radiator?
have you changed the thermostat-?
Please.!!! your tires may not be the newest---tires are NOT designed to be operated over 70 MPH.
