I have 1989 ford 460 in my motorhome. It runs ok but while driving it bogs down and dies. Then I let it set for awhile it starts and runs ok until it does it again. The fuel pump in the tank has been changed and the fuel filter.
Some of the Fords in those years had problems with the Ign.module overheating if you do not find any fuel related problems check for spark when it cuts out.Good Luck MIKE
