I have a 1988 RV with a 454 chevy engine only 26000 miles. The air tubes on the manifold broke off and I called chevy dealer for the parts...they said they were discontinued, was used for air pollution only. So we plugged holes with bolts. When I took it out to check it the exhaust manifold is glowing red when I pull a hill or put it under a steady speed. It glows from the manifold back down the exhaust as far as you can see. Heat shields all the way back to the muffler. Pulled mufflers off to check for blockage, ran it without the muffler and still the same problem. Timing has been checked and set, ok. has a Quadra Jet carbuerator, with no where to adjust as far as I can see. No catalytic converter or oxygen sensor on it. Any suggestions would be appreciated. I don't know what else to do with it, can it be ran glowing like that? |
