I have a 95 GMC 3500HD stake body dump with a 454 that I just purchased a month ago. It seems to run fine for a couple miles till it gets up to temp (220 deg.) and then starts puttering. Even with no load or towing. Mechanic said to change thermostat to 180 deg which has been done. Did not help much. I said fuel pump maybe, any other suggestions before replacing that? Just seems odd that it does it around operating temp. NOTE-before this started I put a K&N filter in it that morning, not sure if there is any correlation. Any advice or ideas would be tremendously appreciated.
Thanks, Dan
Just a guess but sounds like the K&N filter may have been over oiled. This may have coated the mass airflow senser causing problems with the ECM.Good Luck Mike
