440 Temp goes up after shut down Curtis 9-10-06
I have the timming at 8 degrees. New radiator, waterpump, hoses, plugs, wires, cap and rotor. The guage on the dash never gets up to normal operating temp. I did install a seperate guage that shows it running at 180, however after shuting the engine off the guage goes up steadly to about 210. Any suggestions?

Is it blowing any back into the overflow? If not I wouldn't worry about the spike. It's not unusual for temp. to climb after shutdown. Rich

Yes. I get bubbles going into the overflow. I wonder if i did not properly "burp" the system.

Possible blown head gasket as well Open cap and start car If water starts pumping backwords out cap you ahve a blown gasket If oil in either water or water in oil blown gasket. but hes right temp will rise a bit after shut down as no fan going

CURTIS...DO YOU LET THE 440 IDLE A MINUTE OR 2 BEFORE SHUTTING DOWN. THE 440 RUNS HOT AND NEEDS TO COOL. DO YOU HAVE TROUBLE AFTER SHUTTING DOWN IMMEDIATELY ON RESTART?
