|86' E350/w 460 Need help with Carb Adjustment||Aron||12-28-04|
|I have recently purchased a 1986 Ford E-350 converted into a Motor home with the 460 in it. I know nothing about Fords and not much more about fine tunning a carb. I have recently rebuilt the Holley 4 bbl carb. The rebuild instructions did not cover the automatic choke adjust, so I referred to my trust chiltons manual which also very vauge on the intructions. It is an electric choke with what looks like the housing is adjustable and an adjustment screw on the the front of the vacum plunger housing. How do I make the adjustments?|

|Why undertake a task like that if you don't know much about it? mostly a holly. Anyway there is 3 screws around the black cover, brake them loose & turn the cover to adjust the choke,(hold the gas pedal half way while adjusting). Make sure the choke element is good,(use a test light between the choke terminal & batt+) The choke should be full closed when cold in the morning. The screw is the limit for the pull back vacuum, too open & the engine die after cold start, too close the engine will flood or smoke black after cold start.|

|Hey Wrench.. Re; your comment about using a test lite between the Batt + and choke element.. Where/what connection there? Are you saying just to touch the metal and 'Create a ground once it is closed?..Then tighten up the screws 'Right there?|

I have bought this RV Winnebago MN used from little time is really fantastic but it has this problem
(only in mountain in the winter) ( Starter motor cranks but engine does not start After 7 or 8 attempts of max 15 seconds Wait 5/10 minutes for time it start.good )
we with my friend have done the Test SET and it has appeared this number: P 1298 IGNITION
DIAGNOSTIC FAULIRE MONITOR perhaps is the IDM?
if you have newses for me you I beg send it to me. to napoli there is not mechanical that they know l' E 350.

|I have a 1986 Travelaire Ford E350 7.5 liter V8 engine. My mechanic spent some time fixing wiring and adjusting the choke. Then we learned the alternator was weak and I am having it replaced. Should he revisit the choke setting to make sure is still correct? What should it be for a cold start and then idle - are there correct rpms etc? It didn't seem to slow down after warming up before we found the alternator problem? AM ppreparing to head for the South west US and want to make sure all is running properly.|
Any cmments appreciated.
