|Hey Rick, looks like you have the same problem as me. mine is a 1990 Bounder Chevy 454 SS engine. I have replaced a lot of items, distributor, cap, coil, plugwires, spark plugs, TPS Throttle position sensor, both (2) fuel injectors, and finally the fuel filter which did seem clogged. The pump for this 120 gallon tank of gas is only 5 inches long and a little over an inch diameter. plus it has to pump fuel up from tank aprox. 27 feet. So, after all i've done i am now seeing after testing the fuel pressure before and after fuel filter was replaced and i still get a great big "0" on it. So, now i'm in the process of dropping the tank and replacing the fuel filter. |
Just thought i'd suggest that you check your fuel line pressure before you look anywhere further.
Please let me know what solved your problem if you can.
Regards, Gary McD

|I would check and replace the ignition pick up coil in the distributer. This and the ignition module are the two things that will stop the engine after it gets hot due to no spark. I have just had this happen on my vehicle. Thought it was fuel so replaced the fuel filter didn't work. Replaced the coil but that wasn't it either. Replaced the ignition module but same thing. Found out it was the ignition pick up coil in the distributer. When it gets hot the coil wire separates and you lose spark. When it sits for a while and cools it will run again. Check to see if there is spark when your vehicle stops after driving a while.|
