The Chev MH service guide says my oil sending unit should be at the back of the block somewhat top side, but I don't see anything that resembles an oil sending unit there. Where in the world is it?? My engine was mfg in 5/ 1990 it sits in a class A Winn on a P30 chasis.
Any help will be appreciated.

There is something on the drivers side toward the front of the block below the ehast manifold, but others say that is a knock sencer.

I just put in an oil pressure gauge and I removed the sensor at the front of the block below the exhaust manifold. Oil pressure gauge works fine, couldn't be a knock sensor.
Did you find your oil pressure sending unit? I have a 99 1550 Ram also with a 318. I got in the truck a couple of days ago and started down the road and my "check gauges light came on" and i noticed my oil pressure gauge read o. I spulled over and shut engine off. Then restarted it and the gauge went up to 40 psi, I took off down the road and got about a half mile and it dropped to 0 like it was shut off. I pulled over and shut the truck off agian. I restarted it and it still read 0 then popped up to 40 ran about a minute and dropped to 0 again. I think I might have a loose wire on the sending unit but can't find it. can you tell me if you found it?
My oil light came on and the oil pressure dropped below low the about 1/2 mile the light went off and the oil pressure went back to normal. I just had my oil changed last Saturday, I checked the oil when this occurred yesterday and it is full. Could this possibly be the oil sending unit going bad?
