I looked at the info.plate on my 440 dodge motor home.All there was.An E andO well seperated.Also some resemlance of a cross.Thanks,again.
Nope, looking at the plate won't do it, you've got to look at the motor itself for the 440-3 stamping. There were more plain 440's out there than 440-3's, so after the supply started to dry up after 1978, some RVs had their tired 440-3's replaced with the passenger car engine with all it's detuning.
If the block is stamped 440-4 on frt of passenger side of block, near the distributor base, then it's not a truck block, but rather a block from a special option passenger car engine from the late 60's-early 70's era.
