Is this on vacuum, or tach??? if its vacuum it just tells you efficiancy of engine...Usually green at idle or going down hills, usually will run at edge of yellow close to red on staights, red on hills...just telling you vacuum pull off....And no unless you are pulling hard all the time, should get over 1000 or better.
What is the green, yellow, and redlines? Is it normal for it to lose a quart of oil every 300-500 miles?

I just bought a 1986 Ford F-250 with a 460 engine with 105,000 miles. Are there any pecularities about this engine. What should I know about the care of this engine other than the normal oil change and tuneups? What would be the expected mpg?

My father and I need to replace the water pump on his 1990 Ford 460 engine that is on a ton and a half chassis for his 1991 PaceArrow RV. Can you tell us where we might get instructions on how to do this? Do you know where we can find the water pump at a reasonable price? Thank you for your prompt reply.

I have a friend with a 1995 holliday rambler 34 ft motor home on a ford chassis with a 460 engine and a transmission that requires you to step on the brake in order to take it out of park. All of a sudden it would not come out of park at all. He got someone to help him and they turned the drive shat just enough that they forced it out. He was on the level and not inclined at all. He went about 100 miles and stopped to eat, and the same thing happened. I went up to his house and he has the mh in a garage on a flat cement floor and he still cant get it out of park. I crawled under and checked the emerg. brake and it was free on the drive line, but the drive line was solid, i could not move it either direction at all.
I dont know whether the electric wire going to the linkage input to the throttle valve has some way of locking the linkage in park and there is a fuse to control it or what.
Can you give us any advice.
I could take the pan off and see if the pal linkage for the park is bent but thought you may know what it could be.
What can be done about a 460 ford engine in a motor home that continues to overheat. I've had the head ground a gaskets added due to warped head. Have been told that this is a problem with the 460 engine in RV's. I've spent close to $3000.00 trying to solve the problem. Any suggestions.
Thanks.
