I have just purchased a 1984 pace arrow rv has a 454 chevy engine. I have replaced the fuel pump and filter it still will not run. It will start but will not keep running.It set for 4 yrs unused by previous owners. Only 89,000 miles on it. I do not have an owners or repair manual on this. I am a first time owner.can anyone tell me how or where to look to repair this problem
First off---25 years---the rubber hoses are dry rotted-split and sucking air-you might have to drop the fuel tank---and have it cleaned too.is the (OLD) gas still in the tank-?--or did you add all new-?--on my 84 Pace Arrow--there is a drain plug on the 100 gallon tank.
since it's a 84 you have a rochester quadrojet carb.
the float back then were plastic.carbon fiber---they were horrible about going bad too and sinking-also your Carb has a second filter where the line threads into the Carb.
the fuel tank has a vent hose on the rear of the tank--it might be stopped up(wasps) mud daubers, and the fuel pump can't pull the fuel.
Do you have Fire? the coil might be bad too-If you replace it (BE SURE GROUND clip is there)the rotor might be shorted--lots of Variables.
