Is is possible to remove and replace an engine in a class a motorhome? If so how whould you go about this?
Re: Class A engine Swap BUBBA THE BUS TECH 10-20-09
Short answer: Yes. Unbolt it and bolt the new one in. The long answer requires that we know the make model and year of the motor home, the make of the engine and hopefully a person that has done one will read the post. Th 1982 Barth with 454 chev is easy. It requires removal of the intake manifold so the picker can go low enough to lift it out the front. Some require that they be dropped out the bottom where the suspension is bolted up and others have to come into the interior and out a window. Good Luck

We have an 1993 safarie-gmc p30 chassis-with 454. Would like to change to cummins 330&allison 6000 trans. We all so need to change out the generator. Can this be done, and do you know of a shop in or around the Orlando or Ocala Fl. area that can do this kind of job. Thank You for your time.

Good luck on finding someone. If you don't want to change the the generator you can covert it over to run on propane. There is a company in Montana called ford cummins.com, they my be able to help you. Good luck, Greg PS I was looking for someone to swap a V10 out and put a powerstroke or a cummins in a F53 ford chassis. If anyone knows anybody that can do this I would like to talk to them.

It's a pretty good bet that the price tag on a conversion like that would run $4-6k for the labor alone. The last "Cummins 330" I can remember was a 330 HP 10L inline 6 that is 3 times as high and 4 times heavier than a 454 Chevy.Maybe you're speaking of a different engine ? I'm a truck mech. so there's my 2 cents.
