I am looking at buying a motor home with a 440-3 in it are these good motors and what kind of horse power rating and gas mileage does it get?From:Corey Lynk
The power spec varies from year to year and depends later in life on maint. etc. A sweet running 440 on a 27 foot class A could make 12 MPG if driven 55 MPH Pushing a 40 foot class A at 70 mph 4.5 MPG would be really good. It all depends. Good Luck
I have a 440-3 in 24ft Class C. A very good engine. If I run easy, i.e. 55mph, I get about 8-9mpg. If I keep up with the big guys at 65+ I get about 6mpg. These are good engines if taken care of.
