1986 itasca fuel suction

1986 itasca fuel suction brent 6-29-09  
I have huge suction at the gas cap (when removed)after running my 27ft 86 itasca 454 is this normal it has a aftermarket electric fuel pump and seems to run fine,should i run it with cap a little loose??

Loose cap = gas fountain = BOOM. The charcoal canister and that system is suposed to take care of this and capture store and burn the fumes coming off your tank. The rule of thumb is if the tank is distorted or buckeled before you release the cap it's a bad thing. They will flex a little on the sides and bottom. But not much. If the tank only relaxes slightly OK. If tank thumps, bumps or flexes a bunch you will need to figure out why the valve system is sucking that hard. Good Luck
