24V instead of 12V Randall Green 5-26-09
I have a P30 Onan 4000 Watt Generator on a 1989 Chevy RV that keeps overloading the voltage. When the Generator takes over from the batteries, it reads 24V and overloads the system instead of reading 12V. I thought the battery might have been wired series instead of parallel but that was not the case. I think the diode might be bad also. Any suggestions?

Man o Man,
Change out that Generator because it is the cheapest way to correct.
