I read all of your forums on this subject but still have a question. It surges and I am sure it is the carb but want to understand the altitude adjustment. When I look at the carb I cannot figure out how to remove the bowl. I was wondering if the screw on the bottom (has a spring on it) is the altitude adj or is that some sort of air inlet adjustment. I notice that if I close the choke 1.8" it runs fine under load. I am asuming I need to clean the carb. Anyone that can help would be appreciated.
The screw is probably the main jet mixture adjustment. Turn it out 1/4 to 1/2 turn and see if it still surges. Basicly the same thing as fiddling the choke. Good Luck
FIRST WHAT BRAND AND SIZE GEN SET DO YOU HAVE.SOUNDS LIKE YOU NEED TO GET CARB AND SET BUT DO NOT KNOW WHICH ONE YOU HAVE.PLACE A MULTIMETER ON YOUR OUTPUT WIRES AND SET THE CARB TO RUN AT 62 HERTZ.THEN LOAD IT UP IT SHOULD RUN AT 60 HERTZ OR DAMAGE CAN OCCUR TO ELECTRONICS IN THE COACH.IF IN DOUBT HAVE A GENERATOR MECHANIC SET IT.ITS WORTH THE SAVINGS OF THE DAMAGE THAT CAN HAPPEN
I will check the mixture adjustment. As for the generator information, I have a model #4BGEFA26100F. I was wondering if that screw on the bottom of the carb was the mixture setting but was afraid to touch it as I have never seen one on the bottom of a float bowl. I will try that this weekend and let you know what I find.
Sorry it took so long. I adjusted the fuel mixture on the bottom of the generator and am getting 62hz. I turned on the air conditioner and getting 60 hz without the rolling. However when I turn on the microwave either alone or with the air conditioner I get the rolling again. I am going to try to swap out the mwave.
I swapped out the microwave and same issue. I noticed if I adjusted the choke slightly when it was surging I could get the surging to stop. I was applying the choke slightly which tells me that it is starving for gas under a heavy load. Unless you have a good suggestion I will have to take it to a dealer. Please let me know.
