I have a 1978 27' class C motorhome with the Dodge powertrain. 44O engine, 3 speed 727. Doing a bit of research on the engine it show's that by 1978 Chrysler had pretty much sucked the life out of the 440 due to emissions stuff. I am researching on replacing it with 3.9L/4B cummins engine. The cummins engine only weighs 50 pounds more then the 440 and I think fuel mileage would more then double. Could I still use the 727 trans with a gearvendors under/overdrive unit on it and what would have to change electricaly. The only fancy option the motorhome has is a am/fm cd player. Any help would be great.
