Help! My 1990 Fleetwood Flair Ignition switch will go full motion (no resistance) but will not engage the plunger to the starter. I can manually pull down the rod to start the vehical. Problem with this besides not correct the battery gets drained unless disconnected. I guess I need to remove the steering wheel to remove the damage part or parts (not sure) but I have never pulled a wheel before. No airbag to worry about. What part do you believe is broke and what precautions and special tools may I need.
Thanks Mark
The ignition in the steering wheel is a factory steering wheel Talk to a truck dealer of the type of chassis you have. The RV manufacturer buys that chassis from say ford or chevy or dodge with a "NAKED SET UP" that means it has every thing on the chassis but the motorhome coach.
it arrives and tthey start it up and drive it into the factory to make the motor home ON it. so if it is a ford then call a ford big truck shop. OR better yet a big truck shop in your town.
it is at least a 1 1/2 ton truck chassis. that is why you won't get muchj help from an RV SHOP. they usually don't deal with the chassis or any parts related to it.
BUT if you can find a good owners manuel to tthat vehicle you should be able to get that steering column apart easily with thier instruction..
