I got a 1988 Pace Arrow and after it sat for a long time,we replaced the fuelpump, but still runs sluggish and only 35-45mph.
We suspect the Catalytic converter is gone.
Where cn I order one,which type(cross reference to a current car/make model ?)
thanks
Mike

have you changed the fuel filter that's along the frame---right side? more than likely the whole system is gummed up---but since you think it might be exhaust system---will the engine rev up while sitting still?
gasoline that's been sitting will just turn in to varnish.it will smell bad--have you tried some fuel treatment, checked the Air filter-is the throttle body gummed up?
rich in Va.
I have a (new to me) 1989 sunflyer. the first time out it died on every hill in town. I waited and let it idle and it e\went good for about a half block (until the carb bowl went dry).
I replace the engine fuel pump, carb filter and in-line filter (about half way back with 1/2" line in and out. It seemd fixed for the first 100 miles then did the same thing. I put an electric in line fuel pump on it and it didn't help. I was 200 miles from home. Finally, I thought about the third line on the fuel pump. It is a return line to the tank. I pinched it off and drove home fine.
I am sure I have a problem with the tank fuel pump, component or filter sock. But, I wanted to say what I did in a pinch.
To add to Rich, also check the rubber hose between the pickup tube on the top of fuel tank & the steel tube going to the fuel pump, make sure it not cracked(dry)small crack will let air in & it's not going to pull gas from the tank.
If gas is older then 16-18 months dispose of it & fill with fresh(old gas will gum up the intake valve sterm & keep them from closing, may hit the piston & bend the valve).(if not too late yet)?
wrench
Also after changing the fuel filter on the side of the frame rail you need to change the filter in the carb at the fuel line inlet connection ( unless you have a rare optional throttle body injected one) and also check for a bad mechanical fuel pump on the front of the motor or a defective regulator for the electric pump.
Cat needed ? i have never seen a cat on a class A big block motor home so i doubt that it's bad and needs changed. These motor homes and engines run hoter than a normal sized vehicle and will over heat and burn out a cat anyway so it would be a waste of money to think about having one put on.
