I just recently purchased a 1989 Pace Arrow. It is a 37' RV with a Chevy 454. I just took it on its 1st run and it lacks power going uphill. Which is a big problem here in Colorado. It has 57000 miles on it. The exhaust kinda stinks. When its under a load I can here an air noise pulsing from the front of the RV. But when I am running down the road on level ground it does fine. When going uphill I am lucky to do 15 to 25. Even on slight grades. Any help would be appreciated.
Have you changed the fuel filter---it should be on the right side frame rail---be sure it had new O-Rings--some didn't and they were on a recall list
rich in Va.
Thanks for the reply. No, I haven't replaced the fuel filter yet. I am going to do so ASAP. Is their a place to look up parts for my motor home? Or is their a truck that shares the same parts? Right now I pretty much just pull the part and go to NAPA with it for them to match. Their has to be a better way to go.
Dear Sir,
I have a 1987 southwind 454 with heavy duty emissions. Can you tell me if this vehicle is suppose to have catalitic converters? My check engine continues to come on,my carb pops and backfires, is there something I'm missing on what to check. It runs great till the check engine light comes on, then runs ok when cruising, but give it some gas and the carb pops and spits, got me confused. Is my carb bad? Its a quadrajet 4 bbl. Lost for answers. Please help. Thanks. Charlie
My 1989 motorhome has 2 fuel pumps one on the engine one in the tank, engine is carburated the relay for the pump in the tank pack it in which gave me no power up hills on the flat it ran great
