Bought motor home used and generator will run as long as i hold start button, if i start normally it will run for 10 sec, then die, I changed the oil thinking it may be that, but no avail. any common fix, as i did a google search and many people have same problem.
I have a small Generac on my Lance truck Camper and it was doing just what you described and it turned out to just be low on oil. They leak, especially if you use synthetic. Check the oil level, it has to be topped off. It doesn't take much loss for the low oil feature to shut it down.

Hi you know i have had the same problem with my gen set.I found that on my onan gen set the start button on genset goes bad, i have replaced 2 times already and still doesnt seem right.Its like almost u have to have it in that rite spot,i also replaced the circuit board behind switch, good luck.
