Generac np30g will run for 10 secconds then shut off, only has 8 hours on it

Generac np30g will run for 10 secconds then shut off, only has 8 hours on it chris suessle 7-28-08  
Bought motor home used and generator will run as long as i hold start button, if i start normally it will run for 10 sec, then die, I changed the oil thinking it may be that, but no avail. any common fix, as i did a google search and many people have same problem.

Have you changed or cleaned the carb?
