I am looking to buy a used class A or C motorhome. I will probably end up with a late 80's or early 90's model with my budget. What is the best engine out there in a 26'- to 32' rig. Please comment if you know engines or are knowledgeable about RV engines. Also any other web sites to research this topic? Thanks in advance.
Personally I like my MH with the 454 chevy engine--but i have had to replace the exhaust manifolds--
ford does also have some good engines---early V10's were underpowered---so lots of them also for sale--older GM's 454's are known to overheat-
it's a buyers market---just be careful and check over any MH you like---there is a reason it's for sale and not everyone will tell you all the in's ons outs--being a House on wheels--very few shops have a clue how to fix things--unless your mechanically proficient---labor-to fix it will be over whelming to your budget.this forum has some great mechanics---and we are glad to come here and help-
