Changing diesel fuel filters Ted 6-10-08
I have a Newell 76 class A with a Cummins diesel. The fuel filters are standard screw-on cannister type. They are hanging above the level of the motor.

Is there any way to change them without losing the prime?

I haven't worked on your brand or type unitbut most school bus installations have a fuel shut off if the check valve has gone bad. Fill the fiter as full as you can and thread it on. Fire the engine up and use a fair amount of rpm right from start. Presto change-o and no priming nightmare. Good Luck

This might be overkill for you, but i've found it saves me alot of headaches. You can insert a little 12 volt rattle pump from NAPA in-line before (or even after) the filter and prime it that way. I just disconnect the fuel line on the out-side of the filter, turn on the pump and purge the air out that way. Have a container to catch any fuel that comes out, reconnect the hose and you are air free.
