Had that same problem with my older onan turned out to be a bad fuel pump remove the fuel line from the fuel pump to the carb then crank over the gen set to see if it's pumping fuel if not check for blocked fuel filter or clogged fuel line if lines and filter are clear then it's a bad fuel pump
