RV & engine batteries both power RV Clem Wehner 1-16-08
Both my engine battery and RV battery power the RV DC electrical systems. Is that normal? It would seem the engine battery would be isolated from the RV system so dry camping wouldn't draw down the engine starting battery? Is something wrong with my system?

I have never worked on a unit like yours but: Most Motor homes Isolate the batteries unless the engine is running. Usualy on older stuff there is either a isolator that is a box with fins on it and diodes inside that the alternator hooks to and allows the power to charge all the batteries while keeping the batteries seperate when beeing drawn on, or there is a heavy duty solinoid wired up to be triggered by the engine running or alternator starting to charge the RV batteries. In short yes there is something wrong. Where this stuff would be mounted I don't know. Hopefully someone here will have more precise info. Good Luck
