3-way lighting Harry Meader 1-12-06
Have excisting system, with 2 switches each side of a center light. In the outlet box there 2 sets of cables, red, black, white, plus the white and black power source, also another black and white cable with no power. I took this apart to install an extra light but decided later not to do this. I now have trouble replacing it back to its original hook up. I have followed the diagram over and over, but it does not work. This other cable coming into the box with no power I believe has some function, and unless I include this cable together with the 3-way wires there is no power/light in some locations. If I take them off there is no power/light. When I took it apart I recall there were red wires with white hooked together, but cannot seem to get it to work. I could send diagram if this would help.

Thank you

Send your diagram to me and if nothing else i will send you a diagram of how a "typical" 3-way switch application should be wired.
