I have two battery disconnects, one for the front battery and one for the house battery. The house battery one works just as it is supposed to, but the one for the motor battery is a different story.
When I hit the switches for either, I can hear the click as they engage. I get the indicator light for the coach battery, but never for the motor battery. When I disengage either of them, again I hear the click, but if I then go and try to start the engine it turns right over. If the battery is disengaged it should be dead right?
Occasionally (rarely) I will see the indicator light for the front battery when I'm connected to shore power.
You did not specify what manufacturer
made the relays for your disconnects-
If they are intellitec. they have techs
that will help you with your problem.
Look up Intellitec number by going to
1 800 555 1212. I belive they are
located in Illinois.
In my coach, the ignition overrides the chassis disconnect switch. Think what would happen if you were driving down the road and someone happened to hit the chassis disconnect switch? Nothing will happen in my coach, but it could be bad news if the ignition didn't override the disconnect switch.
When hooked up to shorepower, I always see the light on for the coach disconnect indicator.
