Beth, I know that problem well for it happened to me on my 86 f150, It seems the ingintion switch was a good guess but the keylock cylendar would be a better bet, it's what I had to replace to solve the same problem with my truck. My truck however has anohter problem for anyone who wishes to comment. This old beast, with key in the ignition but the ignition not turned at all the truck buzzes with the door open. If the lights are turned on or the key is turned to the accessory possition the buzzing stops and under closer testing a test light clipped to the body inside the engine compartment will shine if touched to the negative battery post indicating a short or a faulty ground. With that being said I have tried disconnecting the ignition switch and also the headlight switch with no luck. I am thinking this problem is inside the dash someplace. Is this a safe bet? If so where would be the best place to start? Console? where the radio was? anyplace? Any further information would be appreciated. Email me :) |
