House battery and dead coach battery edie 2-15-05
I have a Fleetwood Tioga and would like to know where to find my house battery. My low voltage alarm keeps going off and my coach battery keeps going dead. It was checked and is supposed to be in good working order. I have a solar charger that does not seem to keep the battery charged either. Any clues on my problems would be most appreciated. Thanks so much.

Well know I know how new I am at having to deal with a motorhome. I found out my house batteries were under the entry steps. Fleetwood was very helpful in giving me some ideas. Those who are having trouble getting answers I would like to suggest they call their mamufacture too.

First. after you locate the batteries and I'll bet they are under the step. Clean the terminals really good. Charge the batter up on low voltage for 24 hours, then take a specific gravity test and see if it measures over 1250 specific gravity. If it needs water only add enough to go over the cells before charging, you can top off after charging the battey. Then you can take it to your local auto parts store and have a load test run (usually for no cost) if that bears out battery ok. Look for something draining the battery. I would also try disconnecting the batter to see if it goes dead. many coaches have a switch for storage you just switch if off and NO power is extracted from the batter while in storage or prolonged inactivity. Hope this helps somewhat.
