I AM TRYING TO FIND OUT WHAT TYPE OF BREAKER AND VOLTS TO USE TO BE ABLE TO PLUG AN RV INTO. I HAVE BEEN TOLD TO USE A 50 AMP BREAKER AND I HAVE THE CORRECT PLUG WHICH IS A 4 PRONG 2 FLAT ON THE SIDES ONE FLAT ON THE BOTTON AND ROUND ON THE TOP. BUT WHAT VOLTS DO I USE TO WIRE THIS. IS IT 110 115 OR HOW IS THIS DONE. MY FATHER AND MOTHER INLAW ARE COMING TO STAY FOR A MONTH AND IM TRYING TO INSTALL A PLUG IN FOR THEM. ANY HELP WOULD BE APPRECIATED
If your R-V has a factory plug the shape of it determines the capacity of current. When we speak of 110, 120, 115
mostly what you will find the current at 117Volts. House voltage varys in different areas. It can range from 90 Volts to a little over 125 Volts. What is important is using a heavy duty cord, especially if you will be running Roof Air Conditioning on the vehicle.
If the cord has to run a long distance to the plug then an extra heavy duty cord will do. Find a matching recepticle at Home Depot and wire it to a electical breaker with the same or larger capacity than the draw. Figure on 30 Amp draw if A-C is used. Use grounding wire for safety.
