I am fairly convinced that the starter is locked.Fuses all ok,plenty of fuel, fully charged battery, oil.I had it running for about 20 min.I shut it down.5 min later I fired it up again as I wanted to make sure fridgewould work. And it WILL NOT RUN.Have noticed in the past that when it shut down it would make a slight grind before going off.Howwould a person get that un-locked if needed?GL thanx a lot for any and all help.
Make sure all accessories are off when starting it. I had a similar problem. I ran the generator to use the AC. I turned the gererator off, but forgot to turn off the AC before re-starting the generator. It started right up after I turned off the AC.
I have the same Problem now, starts with a jumper onto the house Bat.,I just looked at the bat. terminals, pretty green looking,I think at this point, not enough amps. passing through these connections to start the Onan,I will clean them tomorrow and try it again, never had trouble before.might want to check your terminals for corrosion,Good Luck........
My onan starter motor sounds like the starter bendex is out. Starter will not engage and start motor, just spins. can the starter be removed without removing the generator from it's mount. Also anyonone know the cost of replacement? This is a 2000 model on my Fleetwood Class C.
I can start the generator with the remote starter switch only. When I release the switch it dies. I can not start it with the start switch on the generator. I just change the oil and filter and tried to unplug the oil level switch to see if it would start, no start except with the remote switch.
