I took out the stock radio and put in a new one. since then I have no instrument panel illumination. I had three remainding wires...chasis grnd, panel illumination, and radio display. I was told not to hook those up to anything. I have pwr to pwr, mem to mem and grnd to grnd from radio to truck hooked up... the radio works fine.
I am having a problem w/ a short somewhere that slowly drains my battery if allowed to sit for more than 2 days. Is there a common area in the wiring that's apt to short out 1st w/ this model
There is a strong chance that it could be the central computer unit. I changed my wires, coil wire, relay to the alternator starter system, distributor and rotor only to find out after all of those failed that it was the computer. I had the mechanics install a used one and it works fine now and starts every time.
