I want to install an auxillary battery
I bought the isolator and read the instructions.
It says to take off all the wires that go to the alternator and attach to the isolator.
That seems scary to me.
there are 3-4 wires going to the altenator and they are attached in different ways,
what are all these wires for and should they all be attached to the isolator?
doesn't seem right.
Sounds scary to me also. All you need to do is, with the ground cable for the main and aux. batteries disconnected, is to remove the big red wire from the alternator and attach it to one of the two "out" studs of the isolator. Fabricate a new heavy, (10 gauge) wire. Make it long enough to reach from the stud on the alternator that you removed the red wire from to where you mount the isolator. Connect this wire to the alt. stud and to the "in" terminal on the isolator. Connect the positive terminal of the aux. battery to the other "out" terminal of the isolator, reconnect the ground cables and you're finished. Make sure you mount the isolator as far from heat sources as possible.
I was forced to remove my coach bateries this winter in hurry (It was very cold here in Alaska) the problem is I didn't pay attention to how they were hooked up
I have a National RV (Sea View) With four 6 volt bateries. How are these hooked up?
I am trying to hook them up the cab + to the + of batery 1 the - to the neg on bat 2 and one cable from the - of battery 1 to the positive of battery 2.
I hook up the auxiliary the same way then i hook them up paralel + to + and - to -
(Right?)
