Generator was removed to troubleshoot problem.I currently have no voltage to the plugs. I do have voltage to the positive side of the coil and upon motoring have voltage to the negative side but no voltage is being emitted out the tower shafts to the plugs. I have already replaced the ignition coil but still have the same problem
Engine rolls over, fire to solenoid, no fire to coil, points or plugs, replaced the cranking relay, check wiring, no change.
any help is appreciated

The spark on dual tower coils occurs on both spark plugs at the same time. If you are looking for spark at one tower only and the othe is unconnected you'll not have a return path so no spark. Install 2 new sparkplugs, ground the plug bodies to the engine and see if you get spark, if not replace the points and condensor. The are under that little box near the carb. Rotate engine to points are wide open the set gap to.021 thou. BFA, BGA, NH models only. 21 thou is equal to 21 degrees BTC.
I bought a used 4.0 BFA and it ran O.k. at home for about 2 hrs. I took it on vacation and it ran for about three hrs. then took a turn for the worse. It ran rough and then not at all. it has new plugs, points and it only fires ounce in a while. could the coil be the problem or should I look elswher?
Onan don't put point or ignition behind the flywheel, it's on the top of the engine between the carburator & the generator.

I have a onan emerald plus 4000 model# 4bgefa26100G
i had the gen. running and it backfired so we shut it down now it will not restart... no spark, I can find only
a little black igition module.
I can't find a part number to order one.
Any help please.
I also need brushes for the generator now. Thanks
Rod, Try a jumper from the 12 volt supply(big red cable) to the positive side of the coil. If this does not give you spark check the negative side of the coil. Jumer to ground if necessary. If still no spark, coil it bad. If sparking, let me know. It will require some troubleshooting that i can help with. Need Model/Serial. OK o email directly.
