Not enough charge in 454 chevy (86 Southwind) Jan 6-6-03
The problems started with our Southwind not shutting off with the key...Got that fixed, but now the battery doesn't keep charged enough. The mechanic has replaced the battery isolator and the alternator but still only 8-10 voltage charge. It used to charge at 18. Does anyone have any suggestions?

The best guess is that your volt guage is faulty. If your alternator had been charging at 18 volts before, your batteries would soon have been toast---boiled dry and the fuming would have driven you out of the rig.I suggest your "mechanic" take a volt read at the atlernator output stud and see what the alt. is really putting out.
