Looking to charge my batterys in my ice shack as im driving to the lake. is it as simple as finding my hot 12v in my harness and running it back to batteries and let the truck alternator do the work or should I have a dedicated circuit off the battery of the truck back to the batteries? Thanks Ben.
I am having trouble keeping batteeries charged. Is there a way to keep the engine starting battery seperate from the aux to assure starting the engine & the aux batt for the lig htgs in the house with one affvecting thed other ?
Extra batteries are easy to charge. Some extra wiring is required. The most effective battery charging is accomplished by making the wire connections near the existing battery. This wiring will need a new fuse holder and fuse. The easiest fuse is the ATO style and found at all parts stores. Parts needed are the fuse and holder, get 3 or 4 fuses, about 40 feet of number 10 stranded wire, a 40 amp relay, 2 large alligator clamps for battery to be charged, about 3 feet of 16 gage stranded wire and a few ring style wire terminal ends. The #10 wire is cut in half to make 2 wires about 20 feet long with one wire marked with a band of electrical tape to be the positive wire. These wires will be routed from the engine compartment to
the bed of the truck. The 12 volt 40 amp relay can be mounted on the inner fender.
