I have a 1978 Jamboree Motorhome with a Dodge 440 engine. It will go along fine for a short while and then starts acting like it is not getting gas and dies. I have replaced the fuel filter and pump. Does anyone have any idea what to look at next or has had the same problem.
Been researching same issues with a ford but early 90's model.
So if yours has NO computer and/or sensors much of this won't apply to you.
ones that might apply
EGR valve
coil going bad or other similar ignition component
anything that when weak due to age or ??? stops working right as heat from the engine heats it up.
junk in the fuel tank making it's way to the fuel strainer in the tank, settles away from strainer when engine is off... pulled back up when engine is started
small fuel filter/screen built into carb or?? sometimes there is a small one built into some component that you don't know is there till issues like this arise.
computer/sensor related that may not apply if your truck is before that era
Fuel pump relay
inertia switch
anti theft fuel cut off switch
Idle air valve
clogging catalytic converter or muffler (back pressure builds up)
